The following pages offer links to listings of a large selection of vintage movies in 8mmSuper-8 and 16mm film formats; sound and silent features, cartoons and short subjects. You will find classic full length features and theatrical short subjects, as well as commercial package films sold to the home market such as the popular Castle Films and Blackhawk Films. Any films being in the original packaging or boxes will be indicated with OB and in some cases illustrations will be shown. I plan to update these pages regularly, including changing the images, so check back often.
Super 8mm film is a motion picture film format released in by Eastman Kodak as an improvement over the older "Double" or "Regular" 8 mm home movie format. The film is nominally 8mm wide, the same as older formatted 8mm film, but the dimensions of the rectangular perforations along one edge are smaller, which allows for a greater exposed area. The Super 8 standard also allocates the border opposite the perforations for an oxide stripe upon which sound can be magnetically recorded.
There's something about movies shot on an 8mm camera that makes you get all misty and nostalgic, right? This look has always had a following, but lately, it has come back in style among videographers, social media influencers, and even filmmakers. And I'm not just talking about throwing on an 8mm film grain overlay and adding a sweet vintage LUT.
Connect the red-covered wire to the terminal marked "L" or "RED". This projector from the s worked like a charm! Do you suppose any media gear you buy today will still be working, in sixty odd years? This projector will only play the older Regular 8mm movie film.
Weddings are wonderful because they personify originality and nostalgia. Being born in the generation that was raised on MTV, nothing makes me happier than for my couples to look back at their wedding as a music video rather than hours of footage from every second of the day. When it comes to my wedding films, I strive to produce an honest, rad, and highly-edited film that captures not only the emotion from the day but the fun you have as well!
